SHIFT is a clinical at-home program that supports the increased development of skills
HOW DOES IT WORK?
SHIFT is an innovative home-based program which is designed to accelerate skill development by continuing learning at home as part of a daily routine, with expert guidance from our clinicians.
Over the course of a full 12-week program clinicians work closely with the client and their family or support network, to establish a personalised SHIFT home program. Each program consists of 4 blocks, generally 3 weeks per block, which is customised to personally target the client’s specific goals, setting a strong foundation for progress throughout the program.
By integrating therapeutic activities into daily life, SHIFT enables clients to make quicker progress toward their developmental milestones, as they’re continually practicing and reinforcing new skills.
During each block, the program will explain how to implement each activity, ensuring supporters, whether family members, teachers, or caregivers, feel confident in guiding the client through the program.
This personalised support ensures that strategies can be seamlessly applied at home, at school, or in any familiar environment.
To maintain momentum, SHIFT includes continual feedback between supporters and their clinician as they progress through each activity.
By extending therapeutic interventions beyond the clinic, SHIFT empowers clients to achieve their goals faster and more effectively, building a lasting foundation for independence and daily living skills.
ROLE OF THE SUPPORTER / FAMILY MEMBER
Together we can achieve goals by extending therapy support beyond the clinic walls into everyday life.
The client “Supporter” (family member, teacher, support worker) is trained by the clinician to undertake games, interventions and tasks to assist the client with their learning objectives and goals.
Family supporters can be any reliable person approved by the client or family member who is regularly available to assist.
